Freestyle Flying! What is that?

Freestyle trick flying or technical freestyle flying to be more precise.

A kite trick is basically an unconventional manoeuvre that is 'out of the ordinary', in terms of perceived kite flying expectations.

Dual-line trick flying has evolved over many years and kite designs have followed suit, giving pilots more trick-scope to work with.
Freestyle trick flying is much the same as freestyle ice skating, freestyle skateboarding or even freestyle yoyo-ing.

In short, it is the process of mastering a number of individual difficult tricks, creating combos from those individual tricks, then flying a performance of tricks and combos that is not scripted or practiced at all, but rather an expression of moves with the kite that comes from within. The moment.

The pilot reacts to the kite's movements, predicted or unpredicted, then seamlessly transfers the kite into another manoeuvre in a split-second-decision in order to maintain the flow of tricks and ultimately provide consistency in the overall performance.  An apparently well practiced routine that is in fact entirely made-up, on the spot.

When you have it down and no longer have to think about what you are doing, and it feels great, that place is called...
